When my dad, Rabbi David Beitler, was diagnosed with cancer last July, immediately a whole range of emotions were brought about, and our family’s lives were turned upside down.
Worst of all was the helplessness.
So many questions: Who would guide the family through this harsh journey? How would we obtain the right doctors? Who would advise those doctors? What is the right treatment? How is everything being paid for? What does insurance cover? Where and how would treatments take place?
Of course the tremendous outpouring of friends and family were so helpful, but understanding the range of services RCCS provides for Jewish families in the position my family was last summer, no one can replicate.
RCCS raises money each year to help staff and budget the organization so that they may help many families just like they did for my family in July and August of 2021.
RCCS’s access to the broader global oncologists and leaders in the cancer treatment field is second to none.
Of course there are a lot of great causes out there, however the RCCS Hockey Classic is an event my dad would have loved. One of the greatest loves in my dad’s life was coaching hockey, and his greatest achievement was creating, organizing and coaching the Waterbury ice hockey team with me through the last year of his life. My dad’s mantra was to always help people, so please consider donating to this great event, so that other families, in similar circumstances can receive the same helping hand, guidance, support and assistance we received last summer from RCCS.
