On March 21st and 22nd, I will be facing off against cancer as I play in the 3rd Annual RCCS Hockey Classic, benefitting the families and patients of RCCS.

I am dedicating my participation in the 2020 RCCS Classic to a great guy who recently passed away after a valiant two year battle against his cancer. Harley Greenbaum was a very close friend and colleague for 10 years. For all those years we had adjacent offices, shared memorable business trips to Panama and celebrated each of our families smachot. His outlook was always positive and would face every challenge with the ultimate goal of being successful. He was a beloved leader and do-er at his Young Israel of Oceanside and a volunteer fireman for 28 years. His great sense of humor was only outdone by his infamous mustache. He is dearly missed and fondly remembered. I can hear him now saying "drop the puck on cancer"; just not in so many words!!!

The mission of RCCS is to tackle cancer challenges, ease medical treatment, cover insurance premiums to lighten the financial burden, and make cancer care more accessible. Without this great organization, thousands of people would stare death in the face with little chance of recovery and survival. RCCS stands by each individual throughout every step of the process, holding their hands along the way to help them fight and win the war against cancer.

Last year I played in the RCCS Classic Hockey tournament for the first time. I was very thankful to be invited to the tournament and at that time I only knew that I was raising money for a great cause by playing the game I love. It was a fabulous tournament and together we raised over $1.6 million. As G-d takes families on some very wild and unexpected rides, it was only weeks after the tournament that my sister-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer. I immediately called RCCS and as advertised they jumped into action to begin helping my family. If that wasn't enough, just weeks later my brother-in-law was also diagnosed with cancer; stomach. Husband and wife at the same time. G-d certainly works in mysterious ways that we will never understand! But something was very obvious - Hashem is allowing me to continue to play this game for so long so that I can be a part of the amazing mission of RCCS.

Please help this life saving organization by supporting me and my team as together we face off against cancer.

Mark Weiner A
In Memory of
Mark Weiner A

Mark Weiner, MD had a thriving neurology practice when he self-diagnosed malignant brain cancer (glioblastoma) in 2012. He was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, physician, and human being. After his diagnosis, he advocated for, spoke on, and continued to help patients with improving quality of life within chronic debilitating diseases. His long-distance bicycle rides, including Boston to New York, helped raise thousands of dollars for brain cancer research and was chronicled in the Boston Globe. Dr. Mark Weiner was truly heroic and his courage, resilience, and grace were an inspiration and even life-transforming for many.
